All the mainstream media outlets seem to be telling the same story & spinning the same opinions about what is happening with Ukraine & Russia.
Ukraine = Good guys looking for a better government
Russia = Bad guys sending in troops to take over weak neighboring country
US & EU = Good guys trying to assist the poor people of Ukraine
Americans have a knee-jerk reaction to quickly take the side opposite of Russia. This reminds me of the blind patriotic enthusiasm many of us had before invading Iraq. Everybody bought in. Nobody challenged the narrative. Look where that got us with Iraq. This time, however, we are not dealing with Iraq and their Paw Patrol army. Russia has an egomaniacal leader, a formidable armed forces, and a strategic alliance with China. We should cool the rhetoric before things escalate. Further, economic sanctions (which the US is discussing) are acts of war that often lead to military conflict.
I am not suggesting a media conspiracy theory here. But I am suggesting that we follow the money. Big countries are involved here. Big countries, despite the rhetoric, don’t get involved unless there is an economic gain. Ukraine moving toward Western Europe versus Ukraine moving toward Russia/Eastern Europe has significant monetary implications for each zone. Only when the media starts talking about monetary implications will the motivations for all these countries be exposed.
